An engaging comic explaining the reality of how Google’s products do and don’t use your data.
Data collection is something we all need to be aware of, but Google’s advanced features often rely on other influences rather than your personal history and details. To help clarify what’s going on when you use Google products, we created a simple day-in-the-life comic strip.
As our online interactions grow, we have all had that sensation where advertising seems almost aware of what’s on our minds. To reassure the users of Google products that they have full control of their data we wanted to create a resource that discussed how it was used.
Working with Google’s Brand & Reputation Marketing team, we developed a fully illustrated story where our main character ‘Eliza’ used Google products and received various marketing prompts. Each time it was an opportunity to discuss what was happening behind the scenes, what data was involved and how ‘Eliza’ could choose to opt out if she so wished.
To reassure viewers we created a comic that explains what personal data Google products do and don’t use.
Online, we have all had that sensation where advertising seems to know a little too much. However Google products users have full control of their data, so we wanted to share the details about their data usage.
